Associate Professor Asim Ozayar, Robotik Urology Training, 2016-2018
After completing one-year Minimally Invasive Surgery and Endourology fellowship in University of Texas Medical Center (US), I started working in Department of Urology, Ankara Ataturk Training and Research Hospital. It was a great chance for me as my hospital has had the da Vinci robotic system and huge experienced team. Robotic surgery is performed three days a week in our hospital.
During my training, at first step, I gained experience of the whole procedure includes preparing the robot, docking and undocking, placing the trocars properly and introducing the robotic surgical instruments.
Following this step, I assisted > 200 robotic radical prostatectomy and > 50 robotic renal surgery that include pyeloplasty, partial nephrectomy, and nephrectomy. I learned "tricks of the trade" to make robotic surgical procedures more efficient without much complication.
After serving as a patient site assistant, I started performing step by step of robot-assisted procedures especially in robotic prostatectomy under supervision Dr. Canda.
